A televised political forum will allow Columbia County voters to see and hear the candidates who will be seeking their votes in the next election. The Primary election is August 24 and the General Election is November 2.
It will be broadcast live on the Florida Gateway College channel and can be found on Comcast channel 8.
The forum, which has been hosted at the college each election cycle since 1986, is set to begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 3. In addition to FGC, the program is sponsored by the Lake City-Columbia County Chamber of Commerce and the Lake City Reporter.
Candidates for four different local offices – State Representative District 11, City Council District 10, County Commission District 2 and County Commission District 4 – will appear on the program.
The format of the telecast is a controlled forum where candidates of each participating race are given the opportunity to make a two-minute opening and closing statement and will be asked questions by a moderator. The candidate will have two minutes to answer each question.
The forum for each race will last 30 minutes.
All candidates for the four races were invited to attend. Those scheduled to appear are:
- 7 p.m. – State Representative District 11 – Elizabeth Porter, Terry Rauch, and Paul Watson.
- 7:30 p.m. – City Council District 10 – Adee Farmer, Tammy Perry Harris, Eugene Jefferson, and Clarence Romeo Tucker Jr.
- 8 p.m. – County Commission District 2 – Cedric Davis, Rusty Depratter, Leo Fleming, Mark Kazmierski, and Stew Lilker.
