Randall Carl Harrington, 50, of Lake City was injured while riding a bicycle on U.S. 90 East, in front of the Lake City Municipal Airport, at 7:50 p.m. Wednesday.
Trooper M.L. Olgesby reports that Harrington was riding west on the inside lane and was struck by a Honda Accord that was going the same direction.
Harrington had no reflective markings and the bicycle was not equipped with lighting. The driver of the Honda, Timi Thomas, 30, did not see the bicycle and the front of the car hit the bicycle.
Harrington was flown to Shands UF in Gainesville and is reported in serious condition. The driver of the Honda and a passenger were not injured.
16-year-old driver uninjured after high-speed crash
Brandon McCray, 16, of Lake City, escaped injury when he lost control of his car on County Road 245 at 4:35 p.m. Wednesday.
Sgt. T. W. Bishop reports that McCray was driving a two-door Oldsmobile, going north on County Road 245 at a high rate of speed. When he approached traffic near State Road 100 he took evasive action.
The car skidded 172 feet and McCray steered left, then right. The car began skidding sideways and went off the left side of the road and overturned after travelling 348 feet. The car hit a fence and stopped, upside down.
There were no passengers in the car.
McCray as cited for careless driving. He was using a seatbelt.
